Do you treat kids?
Yes we do! We treat children as young as 5 years old. However, there are many situations where a child would be better suited being treated by a Pediatric Dentist. We would be happy to meet your whole family, but keep in mind a referral may be needed in certain circumstances to ensure proper care for your child.
When should I start cleaning and brushing my child’s teeth?
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, you should begin cleaning your child’s gums with a soft cloth soon after birth. As soon as the first tooth appears, start brushing twice daily with a soft infant toothbrush and just a smear of toothpaste. It is important not to use too much toothpaste, especially if your child cannot spit out the excess. When you come in for your child’s first visit, we’ll show you how to brush properly.
At what age should I schedule my child’s first visit?
We treat children as young as 5 years old. Most children don’t require dental care until this age. If your child needs treatment but is less than five years of age, an appointment should be made with a Pediatric Dentist. You should regularly inspect your child’s teeth for dark spots and discoloration. If anything abnormal is detected or the child reports pain, an appointment should be made as soon as possible.
Can my teenager come alone to the appointment?
Please note that patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all visits. We want to meet with both of you to discuss findings and treatments, and to address your questions and concerns.
